This is the church and orphanage entrance in Port au-Prince, Haiti
The interior of the church needs some serious help. But the Haitian people are smart and innovative. They use what they have to make due.
Everyone dresses up with the best clothes that they have and they are grateful for a place to worship in.
The children and the staff including the Pastor and his wife all sleep in the church.
Beds are in short supply, but they do the best with what they have.
Currently we have 12 children in the orphanage and 4 staff members.
As of May 2024 we are able to provide enough food for them to eat 3 times a day.
They are only able to serve one meal a day, but are thankful for having something.
The meal time also holds some special time to be together as a family.
Rice is the main meal, sometimes just flour, water, and some cornmeal.
Bellies are full
The water comes from a well that was dug out.
The water is drawn by the yellow bucket and is untreated.
This is outdoors and does not provide much privacy.
This is also outside and is a type of outhouse with little privacy.
This is the main cooking area. Not in the picture is a wheelbarrow that is used to mix large quantities of food.
Also used to store things like beds. Not secure from critters.
